If you’re going to do it, do it properly. If you’re one of those who (strangely) disagree with the whole thing but feel like you’re being coerced, this is the way to stick two fingers up to the establishment.

I watched the film starring Mark Wahlberg and then the series starring Ryan Phillipe recently. The film first, then gave it a week, then started the series. Although both have pretty much the same story (Wahlberg was exec producer for the series), I quite enjoyed both. I’m starting the second series, (all are on Netflix) but now we’re off story, so it will be interesting to see if it’s still any good or not…

Still love this clip. At the Rock and Roll hall of fame in 2004. Some great musicians (Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne, George Harrison’s son Dhani and others) playing what actually is quite a dirgy version of ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ in honour of George Harrison. Then at about 3:25 Prince takes over and his guitar gently melts everyone’s face off. Pure class.
Creator Genndy Tartakovsky’s masterpiece (not that he hasn’t produced other very great work!) was Samurai Jack. One man, thrown into the future, with a magic sword, to beat the evil Aku. The show premiered in 2001 and ran for 5 seasons and was influenced by the films of Kurosawa and the Lone Wolf and Cub novels. Lots of laughs as well as action – Jack visist a rave in one episode – and lots of varying cultiral references: 300 Spartans, the Scotsman, to mention a couple. Lots of snippets to watch on YouTube but full episodes would really be the way forward if you like the look of it.
Genius.
