…In the Side Bar.
I had another burst on the app yesterday, finding more books I’ve read in the past.
I love this app. I like seeing what I’ve read over the years – it reminds me of where I’ve been: holidays, different flats or houses, different times in life. Books can be so evocative. I remember first reading ‘Luck Jim’ by Kingsley Amis on one particular holiday and really enjoying it. Sixteen years later, apart from the basic premise, I couldn’t really remember anything about it, other than I had enjoyed it. I started to re-read and just couldn’t get into it at all. I think sometimes its about a time and a place…
I’m not one for writing reviews on the site. Maybe about books I’m currently reading, but there’s no way I’m going back 20-30 years to write about anything I read in the mists of time.
The best feature is the barcode scanner. One of these days, if I have a spare hour and the bookshops re-open, I’m going to walk around scanning everything I no-longer have on my bookshelf.
The worst thing about the app is seeing all the books that you feel you should have read that you haven’t. I’m not sure there are enough days in a human lifetime.
